Interviews About Albums: Vile Desolation - Annihilating The Consciousness (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Indonesian Brutal Death Metal band Vile Desolation to ask questions about their album, "Annihilating The Consciousness".

1. What can you say about this new CD?

This album is probably the most intense and personal release we’ve done so far. It combines aggressive riffs, chaotic rhythms, and haunting atmospheres to create a brutal yet immersive listening experience. The songs are heavier, the structures are more complex, and the themes explore deeper psychological and existential darkness. It’s an album that reflects chaos, anger, and reflection all at the same time. The whole album feels like a journey through chaos and inner struggle. We didn’t want it to sound too polished; we wanted it to feel raw and honest.

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

The title “Annihilating the Consciousness” basically reflects the idea of the mind collapsing under pressure, whether it’s from inner thoughts, reality, or the darker side of human nature. It’s about breaking down the illusions we often live with and facing the truth, even if it’s uncomfortable. It reflects how people sometimes need to break their old way of thinking before they can truly see the truth about themselves and the world.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

The songwriting process was collaborative; the music was written by Rama and Hendika. For the lyrics written by Rama and Yudha to match the emotional and dark concept of the album.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I would probably pick “Sanctified in Ashes.” That track has a very strong atmosphere and emotional weight. It feels dark but also powerful, almost like a reflection on destruction and rebirth. For me, it represents the spirit of the album really well.

5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is?

Yes, the album talks about confronting the darker parts of the human mind. It speaks about mental struggle, societal decay, and the search for meaning in a chaotic world. Despite the darkness, the underlying theme is about awareness—recognizing the darkness is the first step toward overcoming it.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Yes, this is the lyric for the newest single from Vile Desolation, namely “Chaos Unleashed”

The firmament ignites in silence torn,
Ashen winds where gods arise.
Boundaries shattered with primal scream,
Order dies within a disintegrate dreams

Unverdict, muttering around in thought
The mind devours its given name.
Sparks erupted uncontrollably,
Chaos spoke from the depths of the soul.

Chaos is unleashed, devouring the throne,
Tearing flesh, stripping every bone.
Unleashing the storm that sleeps within,
Let madness reign, let order die.

A thousand voices echo through,
God's creature echoed
Symmetry burned in sacred rite,
Balance drowned in endless night.

Tremble the ground, the veil is torn,
A beast of thought no longer sworn.
Awaken fire beneath the skin,
Welcome the storm that lies within.

Chaos ensues, there is no turning back,
Reality is distorted and conscience is divided.
This is the end, the purest form
The mind unattached and psyche change

From the ashes we rise, unbridled and violent,
Beyond all order, beyond all law.
Mind no longer restrained...
Forever changed, Chaos Unleashed.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically, the album is influenced by extreme metal, especially brutal and dark-sounding bands that combine aggression with atmosphere. Outside of music, the inspirations come from personal struggles, philosophical ideas about existence, and the chaotic reality of modern life. We are also grateful to friends, family, and the underground metal community who always support us.

8. Something to add?

We hope listeners can feel the raw emotion and darkness that we poured into this album. “Annihilating the Consciousness” is not just about aggression—it’s about expression, reflection, and the release of everything that weighs on the human mind. This album we worked on with a lot of passion, and we’re proud of how it turned out. Huge respect to everyone who supports underground metal and keeps the scene alive.
