Interviews: Amongst Liars

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Hard Rock band Amongst Liars from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like this?

Leo: It came from a long WhatsApp chat, and we loved how it had a lot of meaning and different meanings in a way. It also had our initials in LIARS at the time until the singer changed, and James was added to the group.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

James: Really got into the rock scene after moving to the coast. Seeing so many awesome bands felt inspiring. Wanted to pour some of my own creativity into making that sort of music

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

James: I saw Amongst Liars at one of their gigs - I actually was part of the support band. I loved their set, and they reached out saying they were looking for someone to play keys, and of course, I said yes!

4. Each band member's favourite band?

James: Bring Me the Horizon

Adam: The Beatles

Ross: Nirvana

Leo: Highly Suspect

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

James: My Dad plays a bit of guitar and is a great songwriter. He got me into music in the first place and, to this day, is the first person I go to when looking for feedback.

Leo: regarding lyrics...everything in my life really that maybe affects me positively or negatively. And guitar-wise, I just love to sit there and create and find something fresh and different if I'm just on the sofa with nothing to do.

6. Where was your last gig?

Leo: Brighton, and it was an amazing first show of the year for us with such a great turnout! Good to be back!

7. Where would you like to play?

Leo: Download, Reading/Leads fest, and Glastonbury, hell fest

8. Who would you like to support?

Architects, RATM, BMTH, Limp Bizkit, Skindred

9. Who not?

Adam: Anyone who promotes hate or bigotry

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

James: Nah, not really. I've always loved the stage. In a way, I feel more myself being on stage than I do in my day-to-day life. But if I were to give some advice, the people coming to see you are there for a show. You are an artist, so don't be afraid to express yourself however you like. Don't try to please everyone, and those who like your expression will come back to see more - and that's how you build true fans.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

James: Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, Papa Roach

Leo: Guns N Roses, BMTH, RATM, Limp Bizkit, Shinedown

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

James: For me to sign their blood donation card

Leo: If they could have my socks

13. What do you think of your fans?

James: I love our fans - always great to chat with them before or after the shows 

Leo: Meeting fans all over the country is why I wanna tour so much, and meeting all the new people. It's the best part of it, honestly

14. What do you think of our site?

James: It's great - you help keep the connection between musicians and their listeners alive.
