Interviews: Hel Hath Fury

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band Hel Hath Fury from the USA. This new interview is about their latest single, so check it out and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.“Halt Ragnarok” was your debut single and your first fully professional recording. What’s the story behind the song, and what inspired it?

We always knew that we wanted our music to inspire those who were struggling to get through difficult times. Halt Ragnarok is about the strength of the discarded and the forgotten, wrapped in a bit of a theme of Norse Mythology.

2. You spent a lot of time learning to record, mix, and master the track yourselves before taking it to Hahn Studios. How did that DIY experience shape the band’s approach?

It shaped our approach in that it showed us early on that recording, mixing, and mastering take a great deal of time and effort – a trained sound engineer is so much better at bringing our vision to life! However, we are glad that we took the time to learn more about recording and mixing. If nothing else, it helps us communicate with our engineers.

2. How would you describe Hel Hath Fury’s signature sound for someone hearing you for the first time?

Fundamentally classic melodic death metal with a twist of modern metal or metalcore. Brutal riffs with liberal use of engaging melodies. The vibe is probably most similar to something like Arch Enemy.

3. This is your first release with the full lineup. How has the addition of all members changed the dynamic of the band?

Our first single with this lineup was actually Never Again, released in October of last year. Halt Ragnarok is an older song that didn’t properly come to life until this lineup, though. Comparing the original version of the song to what we have now, it’s clear that Joey (guitar) and Case (drums) brought some serious flair to the track!

4. Fans and zines are already taking notice with features in Decibel Magazine and podcasts like Metal Queens and Richard Metal Fan. How does it feel to get that early recognition?

We appreciate the recognition! We are mostly excited that people are listening and at least some are resonating with the message we’re here to share. Seeing our listeners increase and media outlets take notice certainly motivates us to keep the music flowing!

5. You’re planning a summer/fall tour and festival appearances. What can fans expect from your live performances?

Our recent shows have been killer! The vibes have been great with the band, and we’re all having a great time playing – I think that comes out in our performance with high energy, lots of movement, and big sounds that are very engaging.

6. The band is releasing a guitar and bass playthrough of the single. Why did you decide to give fans that inside look into your music?

We are trying to mix up the content we bring to our fans. We released our first music video in October, and while we intend to do more music videos soon, changing it up with possibly more intimate content sounded fun.

7. Which bands or artists have influenced Hel Hath Fury’s sound the most?

Our foundation is built around influences from our favorite melodic death metal artists like Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, and Children of Bodom – I think that is apparent when listening to Hel Hath Fury. Other influences from artists like Trivium, Make Them Suffer, and Dream Theater also contribute to making our sound unique!

8. What’s been the biggest challenge in bringing your first single to life?

Taylor Hahn of Hahn Audio actually made the process easy! We have been playing Halt Ragnarok since 2023, and since we recorded and mixed the first version of the song ourselves, we have had lots of time to develop this track into something we really like.

9. Looking ahead, where do you see the band going in 2026 and beyond?

Over the last year, we have had some awesome opportunities to share our music with new audiences by going on tour through Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah, as well as opening for some great touring acts coming through Denver like Arkona. We hope to continue sharing our music with more people by playing in town, touring new places, and rocking some Summer festivals.

10. How has the reception been so far from fans and local shows?

Halt Ragnarok has always been a crowd favorite at our shows. The high-tempo and heavy-hitting riffs always get the energy going!

12. Finally, what message do you want listeners to take away when they hear “Halt Ragnarok” for the first time?

Through unity, nothing is insurmountable. If we stand together and choose our own fate, the destiny others have designed for us shall be broken. Not even gods can stop us because the world is in everyone's own hands, and if a spark is needed to start the passion to improve, may this song ignite that fire.
