Behind The Tracks: Maebe - God Wit (Single) (2026)

God Wit is one of my favorite songs on the record—it goes straight for the jugular," says band leader and virtuoso guitarist Mike Astley-Brown. “It started with Nic’s driving drum groove and came together incredibly quickly after that. It’s one of our first-ever co-writes—a big moment for the band.”

The song is taken from the new album Brain Paint, which is now available to preorder from Ripcord Records. Brain Paint is a celebration of everything instrumental rock: frenetic math wigouts, post-rock’s cresting waves, the melodic shred of modern guitar masters. And it has hooks for days.

“I’ve been obsessed with instrumental guitar music for over half my life, but the artists that have stayed with me all have one thing in common: melody,” says Maebe leader and guitar virtuoso Mike Astley-Brown. “It’s not enough to just provide a soundscape – it’s the hooks that hit the heart and rattle around the brain. And I think we’ve nailed that with this album.”
