Interviews About Albums: Godes Yrre - Feelings Can Burn You (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Swiss Stoner Metal/Doom Metal band Godes Yrre to ask questions about their album, "Feelings Can Burn You".

1. What can you say about this new CD?

Feelings Can Burn You is probably the most emotional Godes Yrre release to date. Unlike my previous albums, which explored religion, ancient warriors, or the afterlife, this one focuses on human relationships and the contradictions of our emotions. Musically, it moves towards a heavier Stoner Doom sound while keeping the gothic atmosphere and cinematic feeling that have always been part of Godes Yrre.

It is also a very special album because it features guest musicians from Cuba, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, Suriname, and the United States, making it my most collaborative work so far. Another interesting aspect is that numerology plays a subtle role in the album's concept: excluding the bonus track, it consists of nine songs, each running for approximately six minutes. These numbers were chosen deliberately to reinforce the album's symbolic character.

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

The title Feelings Can Burn You reflects the idea that emotions can be as destructive as fire. Love, hate, jealousy, passion, fear, or obsession can build us up or completely consume us. Every song represents a different emotional state, showing how feelings can shape our lives for better or worse.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

I composed all the songs and arranged the entire album. However, I invited several musician friends to contribute guitar solos, violin, organ, and orchestral arrangements. Their performances added new colors to the music while keeping the original artistic vision intact.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I would probably choose "Feelings Can Burn You." It summarizes the concept of the entire album, both lyrically and musically. It combines heaviness, melody, and atmosphere, and perfectly represents where Godes Yrre is today.

5. Is there a special message in this CD? If there is, what is it?

The album reminds us that emotions are incredibly powerful. We usually think of physical wounds, but emotional wounds can stay with us much longer. The message is not pessimistic—it is simply an invitation to understand ourselves better and to recognize that every relationship changes who we are. Sometimes the deepest scars are invisible.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Rather than quoting an entire verse, I prefer to share the main idea behind the album:

Sometimes the greatest battles are not fought against monsters, but against the emotions we carry inside ourselves.

I think that sentence represents the spirit of Feelings Can Burn You.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

My inspirations come from many places: Doom Metal, classic rock, gothic music, cinema, mythology, and literature. I've always been very eclectic, so I don't like limiting myself to a single influence. More than specific bands, life itself inspires me—our relationships, our victories, our failures, and the stories people carry with them.

I'd especially like to thank every guest musician who accepted my invitation to participate. They come from different countries and different musical backgrounds, but they all understood the spirit of the album. I also want to thank everyone who continues to support independent underground music.

Thank you very much for the interview and for supporting underground music. Godes Yrre has always been an independent project driven by artistic freedom rather than commercial expectations.

Before the release of Feelings Can Burn You, I released the EP Buried to Die, a collection of three cover songs reimagined through the dark and atmospheric lens of Godes Yrre. The idea was not to reproduce the originals faithfully, but to reinterpret them and give them a new identity shaped by my own musical vision.

Together, Buried to Die and Feelings Can Burn You show two different aspects of Godes Yrre: one paying tribute to music that has inspired me over the years, and the other presenting entirely original material focused on human emotions and personal experiences.
