Interviews: Breeding Chaos
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Cosmic Death Metal band Breeding Chaos from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?
We started with the concept of chaos as described in the Ancient Greek Cosmogony. It is the primal energy, the essence of all things. We came up with the idea of an even more ancient being giving birth to Chaos and raising it as a child. Also, it sounded very cool, haha!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We grew up listening to all these death metal milestones from the early 90s. It is the most open and exciting metal subgenre, in our opinion; you can play as you like, and spice it with whatever suits you, so we had to give it a try!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
As a matter of fact, yes! Bruno and I (Jerome) had been playing together in a gothic metal band called Crimson Garden like... 25 years back!
As for Lucas (drummer), it’s been about 5 years, and Malo (bass), 4 years. We all have so much in common musically and in life in general that it feels like we’ve known each other for 20 years!
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Tough question... I would go for Death
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I’d say just about anything—mainly metal, but also progressive rock/metal, heavy metal, death metal...
Sometimes I wake up with a riff stuck in my head, so I rush to my guitar and jot it down to build a song around it.
Since we’re passionate about astrophysics, our lyrics are inspired by the formation of planets and galaxies, as well as space exploration. We compose music like a film score that takes you on a dark and immersive interstellar journey.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was on January 31. We took a long break so we could focus on new songs and record our second album, which will be released in late 2026.
We’ll resume playing concerts in July and late August, and then we’ll go on tour to promote the album.
7. Where would you like to act?
We are eager to play in a larger area, going north from France to begin with, but also festivals and other European countries
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We have some excellent bands in France, such as Exocrine or Gorod. Since Coroner got together again, we would be stoked to play with them!
There's also Fractal Universe, and all the bands we've played with before—they're amazing, and we'd love to play with them again.
9. Whom not?
No one—we know that making music requires such a deep personal investment and is such a personal endeavor, so we're open to everyone and every type of music.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Of course, but for me it tends to disappear once I set foot on stage. Maybe some breathing exercises would help. Also, a great load of working your parts is paramount!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As for me, I would say Carcass, Death, also bands such as Running Wild, Overkill, I’d say Death, Abysmal Dawn, Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Voivod, At The Gates, Coroner, and Yes.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To sign a T-shirt.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They're cool and open-minded, which is an important thing in life.
14. What do you think of our site?
It's really well done, very comprehensive, with great interviews and interesting reviews. It's easy to navigate—I'm really looking forward to seeing Breeding Chaos featured there.
15. Something to add?
Get ready—our second album is coming out soon. It’s massive—a cosmic journey into the depths of the galaxy, where no one will hear you scream....
Support the underground scene, stay metal, listen to, and share the music you love. Be safe!
Thanks, Jon, for your time and this interview. Take care!
