Interviews: Malamorte

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Occult Heavy Metal band Malamorte from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?

The name has several meanings; specifically, it was the way the plague was called, or it was linked to sudden death, and without the sacraments.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I was born in 1972, and I was able to experience the birth of all the genres related to metal. I wanted to be able to express these influences in a specific project.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, I have been collaborating with SK since 2007; he was and still is part of several of my projects, such as Lord Vampyr, Alex Nunziati, Shadowsrein, and Cain...

4. Each band member's favourite band?

The list would be too long, as far as I'm concerned, Mercyful Fate, Savatage, and Metal Church, then obviously many other bands that influenced me for my other projects

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

You know, there's no specific thing. Sometimes you feel the need to pick up the guitar and come up with something, but it doesn't always lead to new riffs. Sometimes, if the mood is right, you can almost make an album in an afternoon, or at least lay the foundations.

6. Where was your last gig?

The band wasn't created to play live, but if the new album is successful, I'll definitely call up some of my musician friends, and we'll do some dates.

7. Where would you like to act?

To be honest, I did a few plays as a kid, but they were comedies. While it would be great to be in a horror movie, I'd probably prefer the role of screenwriter.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Definitely with cinema legends like Stallone, De Niro, Al Pacino, and also with directors like Sam Raimi and Dario Argento. For music, King Diamond above all.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright is always present; the worst was when I played supporting Iron Maiden with Theatres des Vampires. I always try to relax before going on stage, and I think people come there to have fun and listen to your music.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mercyful Fate, Savatage, Sodom, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Regardless of who signed their guitar, body, or whatever years ago in the early days of Theatres des Vampires, a girl sent me a letter. There was a dark stain inside, and she wrote that it was her menstrual blood for me.

13. What do you think of your fans?

My fans are very attentive and eager to hear new productions, sometimes enthusiastic and sometimes critical, and this allows me to understand what I can do to improve and create quality music that satisfies both them and me.

14. What do you think of our site?

I like it because it is very detailed and easy to consult, certainly much better than many pseudo webzines.

15. Something to add?
