Interviews: Moxies

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Grunge/Garage Punk Rock band Moxies from Scotland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because it’s authentic to who we are and punk rock is all we've ever known, we keep logic out of music and purely go on what we feel, and this is what was born out. 

2. Each band member's favourite band? 

We don’t have one favourite generally, but here's one of the top 5 - Dan (R.E.M.) Rick (The Jesus Lizard), Emma (Paramore), Harry (Moxies)

3. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Emotions, simply put (frustration, anger, mental health, rock n roll, rebellion), are often associated with life experiences (love, loss, growing up in the sticks)

4. Where was your last gig?

Banshee Labyrinth, Edinburgh, supporting Dead Dama with Bad Knees & Hemlock. Punks not dead.

5. Whom would you like to feature with?

A gig with Hot Wax would be pretty good 

6. Have any of you ever suffered stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah, leaning in to your true unapologetic weird self and using adrenaline to fuel performance/emotion. Know that people relate to vulnerability; appearing confident all the time is a bore. Sunglasses help too 😎 

7. What bands have inspired you the most?

Beatles, Motörhead, Radiohead, Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, Pixies, Fugazi, R.E.M, Pogues, Honeyblood, Husker Du, Gang Of Four, Blur, Cranberries

8. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

A place to stay for the night
