Behind The Artworks: Doghouse Rose - Born To Break Even (2026)

The idea of a broken piggy bank with loose change came to mind right away when thinking of imagery that matched the phrase “Born To Break even”. We really liked the idea of it sitting in liminal space, and the idea of the silk/boudoir photography style was inspired by a cookbook by Mamrie Hart, where there are funny, sultry photos of the recipes. We also liked the juxtaposition with the rich fabric and thought it was a good commentary on putting on a brave face while putting on a hard fight.
