Behind The Scenes: Crucial Velocity - The Harvest (Official Video)

"The Harvest" is the last of the 3 song trilogy by Crucial Velocity. This song was written after I secured Fredrik Akesson to play lead guitar, so I knew I had to write something epic in order for him to want to be a part of it. Fortunately, he loved it. I've always had a fascination with aliens, so it was a lot of fun coming up with the story. Basically, these aliens were forced to leave their home, which was depleted of resources. They come to earth and harvest our resources and all humans.

It has a lot of contrast between the quirky intro and heavy riffs with death metal growls. I tried to create a chord progression for Fredrik to solo over that is a bit Opeth-like. He absolutely shreds the intro solo using his new Schenker Gibson V. This transitions into a clean section before the heaviness returns for the end of the song.

This song showcases the versatility of our incredible vocalist, Androo O’Hearn. Matt Thompson (King Diamond) creates some of his most brutal and technically interesting drum parts yet. The song ends with Fredrik going off on his 80's ESP Explorer.

This song, and all Crucial Velocity songs, were engineered by Gary Long at Nomad Studio, Dallas, TX. Gary does a phenomenal job of making our mixes sound modern, yet keeping some organic personality as well.

The video was created by Wayne Joyner, who has done all of our videos. He works with Dream Theater, Creed, Tremonti, etc. Wayne is a CGI expert....NO AI. He has 100% creative freedom to do whatever he wants based on the subject matter.
