Behind The Tracks: RiotWeekend - Harry (Single) (2026)
Harry started out as me writing the story of what had happened to my best friend, as a way of trying to process it. I was angry at the authorities and the people who were supposed to care for the most vulnerable. The song actually has a lot more to it. More of a story about what happened. But I decided to try and turn it into a song, because I realised I wasn’t able to do anything to help my best friend, as they weren’t ready to receive help, and all I could do was let them know I was there. Harry and I always connected most through our love for music, and we spent every single day together listening to songs. So this felt like the most appropriate way to get my message to them. Also to anyone else out there who may be going through the same things… plus, it turned out to be a banger! Harry has heard the song live and on record, and loves it more than most because of what it means.
I wanted to try and get the message of the song to come through the artwork, and the first line of Harry is “Your head and your heart found the wrong group of friends”. I think it shows that sometimes we’re not always thinking with our heads, and that things aren’t always where they’re supposed to be, or how they’re supposed to go in life. I feel that that’s a really important message for anyone who feels a little bit lost or confused - it’s normal, and it’s ok. None of us really know what we’re doing, and we’re all just trying to figure it out as we go.
