Interviews About Albums: Grim Prophecy - Grim Prophecy (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Thrash Metal/Death Metal band Grim Prophecy to ask questions about their album, "Grim Prophecy".

1. What can you say about this new CD?

It was our first time venturing into this genre; we aimed to create a project that defies easy categorization. There are many influences involved, and we tried to bring them all together into a sound that is uniquely our own—we are very satisfied with the result!

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

The title represents the essence of the album, but the concept would still exist without it. All the songs are connected through common themes: inner darkness, manipulation, fear, transformation, and the conflict between instinct and conscience.

3. Who is the composer of the CD?

Manu Pes composes all the music of the CD and records guitars and bass, and all the lyrics were written by the singer, Alex Cau.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Grim Prophecy. It represents us both in terms of composition and musical style, and regarding the themes addressed.

5. Is there a special message in this CD? If there is, what is it?

The main message is that we believe that fear and ignorance are the most powerful tools of manipulation. They make people more vulnerable to control, regardless of whether it comes from politics, the media, religion, or other forms of power. This concept had a strong influence on the writing of the lyrics throughout the album.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Devil Deception was inspired by an old saying that Manu’s grandmother used to tell him when he was a child. From that starting point, we explored the wounds left by the two- faced nature of people and how betrayal affects us all. For You, on the other hand, tells the story of Alex and his son during a particularly difficult and challenging period in their lives. This song helped them face those struggles and move forward together.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Our influences include bands such as Pantera, Death, Slayer, Testament, Carcass, and many other artists from the extreme metal scene. But that’s only part of the picture. We listen to a huge variety of music, and you can find traces of blues, doom, and many other genres in our sound. Beyond music, we draw inspiration from fantasy and horror literature, manga and manhua, light novels and web novels, cinema, and human psychology.

8. Something to add?

We are absolutely determined to push this project forward, especially outside of Italy—see you out there!
