Interviews: Cairiss

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Blackgaze band, Cairiss from England. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

We basically just made up a word that we thought sounded interesting!

2. Where is the band based?

South of England

3. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because blackgaze can be a very beautiful and emotive genre

4. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, most of us have been friends for a long time

5. What is each band member’s favorite band?

Freya: Ethel Cain 

Ethan: Opeth 

Martin: Strapping Young Lad 

Lydia: Alcest 

Connor: Caligula’s Horse

Alex: Darkthrone 

6. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mostly the bands and musicians that we’re all really into, in combination with our various life experiences. 

7. Where was your last gig?

The Black Heart in London

8. Where would you like to play?

Arctangent!

9. Who would you like to share stages with?

Definitely Alcest

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, many times! One thing that helps is to not look directly at the crowd.

11. Which bands/artists have inspired you the most? 

Any of the bands listed before!

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We have women in the band, use your imagination, and it’s probably happened…

13. What do you think of your fans?

How important are they to you? Everything. Our fans are so lovely, and so insightful/emotionally rich. It's really lovely to connect with them musically or otherwise.

14. What do you think of our website? 

We love that you put a spotlight on up-and-coming bands! I do enjoy that the cursor is the horns as well.

15. Anything to add? New music, gigs, etc.?
