Interviews: Clegane
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal/Grunge band, Clegane from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?
I had the name before the sound! I fell in love with the character from Game of Thrones. I wanted our music to be like his: burnt, tormented, and heavy
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
It fits our personality. Something introspective that carries weight. 90´s Grunge was part of our chaotic teenage years, and we were so into discovering modern doom, topping the reminiscence of these times.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
At first, there were only two: Rudy and I were friends for 15 years and already had played in a Death metal band together; in which I still am in (TankrusT).
We found Laurent on the internet, and when Rudy quit (Covid times), we found Olivier on the internet.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Each member has several favorite bands, depending on the mood. Yet, I think Alice in Chains is my favourite. I'd say Korn for Olivier. Might be Mad Season for Laurent.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
For music, it's mostly jams, so nothing specific, but a mix of what fuels us at the moment. For lyrics, it's centered on depression, addiction, and dark thoughts
6. Where was your last gig?
In Paris with our friends from Seum and CerbĆØre. It was sweaty and heavy!
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere! We love non-typical venues such as churches, forests, the beach, houses…
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Tar Pond without any doubt!
9. Whom not?
Apart from politically problematic bands, we love playing with everyone
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Yep, we do every time, at some level or another. And it’s not necessarily a bad thing. You can’t fight it, or it’ll be worse.
Try to channel it and use it as energy. Once the music starts, it usually vanishes
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Alice in Chains without any doubt
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Frankly, we did not (yet) have a weird thing that a fan asked. Don't know if it's a good thing or a bad one...
13. What do you think of your fans?
Clegane is love. We don’t see them as fans but friends to be met
14. What do you think of our site?
It's very thorough, and one must praise sites like Breathing The Core that keep the spirit alive and spread new bands and new music across countries! It's exciting!
15. Something to add?
Keep discovering, keep going to local gigs. Stay alive and be loved
