Interviews: Fraxures

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Fraxures from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or did it come out just like that?

Travis: “I’m inspired by various different things, could be a mood, a good song, an experience in life, something I see or hear. Inspiration is all around us; all we need is to tap into it!”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

T: “I’ve always gravitated towards heavy music since I was a kid. The freedom, the aggression.. It allowed me to release the demons I hide inside and the feeling that I’ve pushed down as deep as I could; this music allows me to exhale those things and actually talk about them. As I’ve grown as a songwriter and musician, my palette has gotten bigger. Now I’m able to pull from all kinds of different styles to create something I feel is unique while always having those metal roots.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Fred: Yes, I joined “A Hero Within” back in 2017, where Nolan, Esty, and Vinny were part of. We played local shows in SD for a couple of years while starting to work with Billy Graziadei. During “Firewater Sessions,” our old singer got overwhelmed and quit the band, which led us to bring Travis Neal into the band and changing our name to “Fraxures.” 

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Travis: My all time favorites band would be Pink Floyd, but my current obsession is Gaerea

Esty: My top five favs: The Beatles, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Killswitch Engage, Shinedown. Currently, it’s Gaerea

Nolan: Top 5- Thrice, Killswitch Engage, Tears for Fears, Oingo Boingo, Pantera. Current newer fav, Dreamshade

5. Where was your last gig?

Vinny: Viper Room, it was our first time playing there. We had a wonderful time releasing Trauma Bond live.

6. Where would you like to act?

V: Hollywood Palladium, one of my favorite venues in LA.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

V: Killswitch engage

8. Whom not?

V: The Provoked

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Nolan: Like the start of any band, the process of coming up with a name goes through many changes and variations. After a couple of hundred ideas were thrown around, I was thinking how we had all come from bands that had broken up and fractured, and we were starting fresh. Eventually threw out FRAXURES, along with a bunch of metal/emo band names, and the rest of the band jumped on with it. I know I definitely had some stage fright when I was younger and started playing shows, but nowadays I just get excited and pumped! Although I might get a little bit of nerves if we’re playing a song that we’ve never played live. Once there have been a few play throughs of a song, it becomes automatic, and I stop worrying about it! It’s all about getting yourself out there and eventually getting comfortable. If you know the songs and are out there to have a good time, that will translate to the audience. Gaining new fans at shows and seeing them get into the music is one of the best feelings in the world!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

N: I listen to so many genres, but the bands that were most influential to me are Thrice, Pantera, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Van Halen, Tears For Fears, Incubus, and Oingo Boingo. I can’t forget about my punk rock roots with Pennywise, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, and No Use For A Name.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

E: I was at a show once, and a guy recognized me; he was drunk. Well, he said he loved my guitar playing and right after asked me if I could get him a hot dog. He was broke, and so was I. Later, he asked for an Uber home. Lol.

12. What do you think of your fans?

E: They’re good ppl. Definitely grateful to even have them. Super nice and kind. That’s the way.

E: It’s cool, I really like it.
