Behind The Scenes: Projector – Kakistocracy (Live Video)
Opening for a band that heavily influenced your sound is always a milestone, but capturing that energy on video takes the experience to another level. That’s exactly what we did for our video for "Kakistocracy", shot live during our show supporting In Flames in Chile this past April.
We wanted to immortalize one of the most important moments in Projector’s history so far. Rather than focusing strictly on the lyrical narrative, this video was all about capturing raw intensity—the connection between the track's heavy energy and our live performance. Plus, "Kakistocracy" holds a special place for us as it serves as a direct thematic continuation to our 2019 single (and current album bonus track), "Corporatocracy."
Behind the Lens and Behind the Stage The video was directed by Fernando Naranjo, who captured the atmosphere perfectly. From a production standpoint, the main challenge was executing a high-quality video shoot without getting in the way of the venue's logistics or In Flames’ production team. Everything had to run with surgical precision.
Of course, a night like that comes with unforgettable moments. Right before we took the stage, while our intro was already playing through the PA system, Chris Broderick suddenly walked past us carrying his guitar case. We were completely starstruck! We managed to say hi, and he kindly wished us luck and a great show—which totally pumped us up right before stepping into the spotlight.
To top off an already legendary night, towards the end of their set, Anders Fridén gave us a shoutout from the stage, asking the crowd for a round of applause for Projector. Hearing that from someone whose music shaped ours was truly surreal.
"Kakistocracy" is a snapshot of our live energy, a tribute to our influences, and a testament to where Projector stands today. Check out the video, behind-the-scenes photos, and turn it up loud!
