Interviews: The Blame

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Indie Rock/Alternative Rock band The Blame from England. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

There was no particular reason as to why we named ourselves ‘The Blame’. There were a lot of names getting thrown about, and ‘The Blame’ seemed to stick. Although we would love to have an epic origin story instead.

2. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

James and Alex have been friends for many years and have played in multiple bands together in the past. Likewise, Jonny and Luke have been friends since childhood and have played in a band together before. With us all being from the same area and playing the same venues in our respective bands, it didn’t take long for us all to become good friends and start up our own new project.

4. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at a brand new venue in our local town Berwick-Upon-Tweed called ‘The Ice House’. It was a brilliant night, the place was absolutely rammed and it was pure carnage in the best kind of way.

5. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We’re always a little bit nervous before a gig, but sometimes that can be a good thing as it can also be seen as excitement. The best way to get less nervous is to keep playing, and you will be able to deal with it better each time. Being nervous isn't a bad thing at all. It just shows that you really care about what you’re doing and want to put on the best show you possibly can.

7. What do you think of your fans?

We have a very good local following after playing local venues in our hometown for over 5 years, when you include the other bands we have all been a part of. A lot of them will travel to see us when we play shows outside of Berwick, and we appreciate and love them so much.

There are always a lot of band merch being worn around Berwick, and it's always great when you see people repping, even more so when it's people you don’t even know!

8. Where would you like to act?

The first venue that springs to mind would be The Barrowlands in Glasgow; that would be a dream to play at. We’ve been there to see some of our favourite artists and the atmosphere is always insane.

We always talk about how amazing it would be to be able to tour in America and do some shows in Japan. Still a long, long way to go, but it’s something we’re definitely aiming for in the future.
