Interviews: Event Relentless

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Modern Metal band Event Relentless from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?

I came up with the band name while I was sleeping. In the dream, I saw a festival poster featuring the words "Event Relentless" along with the names of other bands. When I woke up, I knew immediately that this was the name for the band. That was back in 2013, when the first demos were recorded, and it was time to come up with a name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It has just naturally come from the influence of the other bands that have been the favourites over the years. Probably the biggest reason for forming a metal band was seeing Metallica perform live in 2009. That made me want to start practicing guitar and form a metal band.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Actually no, we didn’t. We met in 2015 (there are currently just two of us in the band), when Henri, the bassist, was supposed to fill in and play two weekend shows because the band didn’t have a bassist at the time. So we first met during rehearsals for those shows. After the shows were over, I remember leaving the venue, as it was already late at night. I was just about to leave when Henri shouted to me from the door, “I bet this won’t end here!”. Well, now after 11 years, it certainly didn’t!

4. Each band member's favourite band?

My all time favourite is Metallica, as it was a huge influence to start playing a guitar and form a band back in the day.

Henri's favourite band is Electric Callboy.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It can be pretty much anything: a feeling, an experience, or another artist’s or band’s song that inspires to write a new song. Simply the act of creating something new is inspiring in itself.

6. Where was your last gig?

The latest gig was in Seattle, Washington. The venue was called The Funhouse. It was the final show of the Pacific Northwest U.S. tour we did with the band Veriteras. There were nine shows in total in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.

7. Where would you like to play?

Wherever the music takes us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Anyone who is actually willing to work with us :)

9. Whom not?

There aren’t any artists or bands with whom we wouldn’t want to collaborate.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Neither of us has really struggled with stage fright. The advice would be to be well prepared before you go on stage, so you know exactly what you’re doing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands like Bullet For My Valentine, In Flames, Children Of Bodom, and Slipknot have definitely shaped our sound. Back in the day, our sound leaned toward more technical and complex arrangements, but it's changed since then. Nowadays, we're more focused on a straightforward sound with hard-hitting riffs and more melodic vocals.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To be honest, we haven't been asked for anything strange yet!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to listen to our music and come to our shows.
