Behind The Artworks: Necessary Evil - Curse (2026)
Curse represents a darker and more defined chapter in Necessary Evil’s evolution, bringing together the band’s modern metal foundations with an atmosphere shaped by tension, aggression, and a strong visual identity. The concept behind the cover artwork came from a relatively simple idea: we wanted to merge three aesthetics that have always fascinated us — anime, cyberpunk and horror — and make them coexist naturally within a single image. The anime influence gives the artwork its expressive and almost cinematic character, while the cyberpunk elements introduce a futuristic, artificial, and dystopian dimension. Horror completes the picture by adding unease, darkness, and a sense of danger, reflecting the more disturbing emotional side of the EP. Rather than treating these influences as separate references, the goal was to blend them into one coherent universe that could visually represent the music of Curse: something modern yet sinister, energetic but unsettling, where beauty and menace exist side by side. In this sense, the cover is not simply an illustration accompanying the release, but an extension of the EP itself and of the world Necessary Evil is gradually building around their music.
