Behind The Tracks: Banks Arcade - YUCK! (Single) (2026)

We started writing "YUCK" when we were at a beach house in regional Victoria. We’d been in a bit of a block period and were kind of stuck on what to do. I actually woke up in the morning and had the idea for the riff first thing, then spent pretty much the whole day trying to write lyrics, but nothing was coming together.

At the time, we stopped writing and were listening to "BACKROOMS" by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti; we’d been listening to a lot of Playboi Carti around then. I said to James, "What if I just started doing some completely ignorant shit on this song?" and took inspiration from that. I felt like people aren't really doing this style of vocals over heavy music.

And yeah, it started to come together. It really is just a heavy song, and it's dark, but it's also not that deep. It's more so just trying to create a feeling. As much as it's a dark song, it's still a lot of fun.

It goes right into Sweat, which is actually a separate song on the album, but in the "YUCK" music video they play into each other. Sweat was originally meant to be its own song, but we ended up blending them together in the studio.

This song won't be for everyone, but it's definitely a unique blend of that modern hip-hop sound, and I’m happy with how it landed.
