Interviews About Albums: Aeonblack - Treason (2026)

In this new interview, we sat down with the German Metal band Aeonblack to ask questions about their album, "Treason".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

We are very proud of our new record. It took much more time than we wanted to, but 2025, the year we wanted to release the record, was a difficult year for us. So we were not able to record as we had planned. We dedicate this album to our late bassist. The publication date of the record (10.11.2026) will be the first anniversary of his death.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The album title ‘Treason’ has absolutely nothing to do with the content ;-). You get 100% pure fucking heavy metal. We chose this title because the song itself represents all that Aeonblack stands for: fast drums, grooving bass, good riffs, twin guitar melodies, and a melodic voice.

3. Who is the composer of the CD/EP?

The songs were written by myself; the lyrics were written by Holger and me. But all band members do the arrangement. This is quite interesting for me to see how a song develops from the first ideas to the final song. And I think this is also very important: everyone can put their ideas into the song. That makes it interesting in the end.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

"Aeonblack", that’s probably the most extraordinary song. It does not follow the common structure of a metal song. And from the composer's point of view, it has everything you can put into a song: changes in tempo, changes in rhythm, changes in key.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is, what is it?

The themes of the lyrics are too different for a special message. It is not a concept album.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

The lyrics of "What Dwells" are something I´d like to share. It is about not being able to see into people's minds. So you never know how people behave and why they behave like that. In a good or bad way. In that song, it is more about the bad way they behave.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?

For me, it is a mixture of Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Trivium, and Killswitch Engage. As we try to mix the old music with the new music.

I think I can speak for all members: we have to thank our families. Music takes quite a lot of time. So when you have people around you who give you enough space and understanding for your hobby, you have to appreciate that.

8. Something to add?

If possible, we would like to play in Spain. We´ve never had a concert there yet. So don´t hesitate to get in touch with us!
