Interviews About Albums: Calus - The Evolution Of Social Exclusion (2026)
1. What can you say about this new EP?
(Hohenstein) “This is our first EP in 20 years, and we're picking up where we left off, but with 2 decades of growth for all of us.”
2. What is the meaning of the EP name?
(Hohenstein) “It’s a play on "The Evolutionary Origins of Social Exclusion". A paper that Thomas Harris' character Hannibal Lecter wrote. I just shortened it because I thought it represented the thoughts of myself and a lot of other people who don't "fit in" who might be feeling excluded from most of society.”
3. Who is the composer of the EP?
(Hohenstein) “Harold, Rodney, Dustin, and Driggs write music, and I handle the lyrics”
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
(Hohenstein) “If I had to pick one song as a whole, it would be Stone Snake, since it's such a departure from our heavier songs.”
5. Is there a special message in this EP? If so, what is it?
(Hohenstein) “When the end comes, we'll give you the music to dance to.”
6. Are there some lyrics that you’d love to share?
(Hohenstein) "Love's no longer currency, in this new society."
7. What inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically, friends, family. Someone you’d like to thank specifically?
(Hohenstein) “We all get inspiration every day from some source. We try to translate that to our music.”
8. Something to add?
(Hohenstein) “If you like what you hear, follow us on all social media platforms. We’ll be hitting the live stages soon. Cheers.”
