Interviews About Albums: The Carringtons - The Reunion (2026)
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Ten songs of exactly two minutes, out of 10\02. Clever? In-your-face drums, sharp guitars, big melodies, synths, and electronic textures creeping around the edges. The album was recorded and mixed by Adrian Popovich at Mountain City Studios in Montreal in February 2026. We're incredibly proud of this record. It's probably the most focused and complete thing we've released so far, and we can't wait to get it out into the world.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
There are a couple of things about the album name. Inspired by the Dynasty TV soap opera. There’s a bit more than a decade between our two albums. And as the TV show reappeared under ‘The Reunion ’, we decided to use it as well.
3. Who is the composer of the CD/EP?
Ben does most of the songwriting for the band. On this record, the last three tracks came from Joey's ideas, musically speaking, but every song includes contributions from all of us. We also produced the album ourselves, so it's really a collaborative effort. Our good friend Hugo Mudie stopped by the studio a few times and helped out with ideas, particularly for the drums and vocal arrangements.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
EMPTINESS. Big hooks, emotional weight, synth textures, huge guitars, snappy drums, smooth bass, and plenty of vocal interplay. It's a perfect snapshot of what The Reunion is all about.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is, what is it?
Like we previously said, our songs are mostly inspired by the legendary TV show Dynasty, which gives us a pretty endless source of material for songwriting: love, betrayal, infidelity, anxiety, self-doubt, ambition, and all kinds of everyday chaos. There isn't really a particular message to the record. I'd just say that The Reunion can feel like a fairly heavy album emotionally. Even when a song sounds upbeat or catchy on the surface, there's usually a darker twist somewhere underneath.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Absolutely. All the lyrics are available on our Bandcamp page and should also be available on most streaming platforms. We put a lot of effort into how our songs are presented online. Besides making the lyrics available, we also create visualizers and lyric videos for many of our songs. If that's your kind of thing, check out our YouTube channel.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?
We could probably go on forever listing all the things that inspired this record. The first person who comes to mind is Adrian Popovich, who recorded the album with us. It's just great to work with him: easy-going, calm, focused, and completely dedicated to getting the best out of every song. His band, American Lips, is incredible too. They have this great mix of modern punk, noise pop, and art rock sensibilities. We spent a lot of time listening to their songs before going into the studio.
8. Something to add?
For every interview, I end up saying the same thing: we don't spend much time worrying about stats, algorithms, or playlists. The music comes first. If you like what you hear, tell a friend, come to a show, and say hello. That's why we're doing this, and that's how the whole thing keeps going. A few links if you'd like to follow us:
