Interviews About Albums: Pantheist - Uncanny Times (2026)
1. What can you say about Uncanny Times?
I can confidently say that this is our best album so far. Symphonic, epic, dramatic, poignant, and well-produced. I feel it ticks all the boxes of what a fan of atmospheric metal music can expect from a memorable album that will accompany them for years to come.
2. What is the meaning of the album name?
The Uncanny is what is strangely familiar and yet different; something that is beyond strange and, at the same time, gives eerie vibes. I feel that the times we live in give similar vibes, like watching a film where you know that everything is going to end soon in the most horrible way, and yet no one seems to care.
3. Who is the composer of Uncanny Times?
I (Kostas) wrote the music and the lyrics, but we all worked on the arrangements of the tracks together, and Linda rewrote some of the lyrics to make them fit better with her singing.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
As the writer of the album, I always find such questions hard; it's like asking someone to choose their favourite child. It's a draw between The Final Journey, Ithaca Out of Sight and Requiem For Your World at the moment.
5. Is there a special message in Uncanny Times? If there is, what is it?
No, I wouldn't say there is a special message. All the lyrics have their own story to tell, but ultimately it's always down to the listener making up their own stories to the tracks based on their own experiences.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
I love this little snippet from 'Ithaca Out Of Sight':
"Now you need me, don't look at me like I'm your saviour
I'm as lost and as confused as you are in this strange world
stand next to me, put your hand in mine
The war is over 'cause there aren't any battles worth fighting for"
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?
It's hard to tell because some of the songs were written many years ago and others more recently. There are obvious musical influences of course, such as classical music and bands like Candlemass and While Heaven Wept. But also many influences from daily life and the world we live in, as it has strongly shaped the context in which this album exists. Not sure if I would like to thank anyone in particular to be honest.
8. Something to add?
Thank you for your questions and greetings to your readers. We hope you will all enjoy 'Uncanny Times', it's an album on which we have worked hard for years, and it shows.
