Interviews About Albums: Wyrm Chasm - Wyrm Chasm (2026)
1. What can you say about this new album?
Eric: This album is our debut. It’s melodic, atmospheric, melancholic, and aggressive.
2. What is the meaning of the album name?
Eric: Wyrm Chasm is our band’s name, wyrm meaning a serpent-like dragon in Old English, and chasm referring to a divide or abyss. Together, the name serves as a metaphor for self-thought, individuality, and the outcast.
3. Who is the composer of the album?
Eric: All song guitars and drum ideas are composed by me; then bass, lyrics, vocals, and expanding on drums are added by other members. There are also a few riff ideas our second guitarist composed.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Eric: I think Netjer embodies the core of our sound and the direction the band is going musically.
5. Is there a special message in this album? If there is, what is it?
Eric: The message centers on the endless cycle between nature and humanity, man striving to rise above nature but ultimately returning to it. The album’s track order reflects that arc: it begins with nature’s majesty and humanity’s destructive tendencies, then moves through stages where man sheds ego, reaches for something more divine, and finally accepts the inevitability of death. The album has 8 songs, and the number 8 symbolizes the infinite loop or cyclical existence.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Eric: Netjer – “Life in death and death in life, reigning order within disorder, the consequence is set and eternal”
Eyes of the Eternal – “Feel the earth’s breath through cosmic force, piercing through the veil of the natural, follow the spiral that pushes beyond, a ceremony of departure, the ritual of our ancestors”
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?
Eric: Musically, I’m inspired by perhaps a more progressive approach to the genre, bands like Enslaved and Blut Aus Nord. Also, the atmosphere produced by the band Summoning and the melodic aggression of Emperor. Thank you for this interview and your support.
