Behind The Artworks: Pilotinthepìcture - While We Escape (2026)

The artwork is by Matthias Stork, a very good friend of mine. He’s a graphic designer and created the artwork based on the photo on the right side of the cover. The picture shows my mother as a child with her grandfather a few years after World War II. You could interpret the photo as the two of them fleeing. The photo has always fascinated me. It hangs in my parents’ house. In this context, the heart ties in with the album’s main theme of “escape”; it’s about showing solidarity, having a heart for others, and not leaving people alone when they’re facing hardship—that’s what’s often missing these days. My mother and her grandfather had a strong bond; perhaps this can be seen as an example of how people could relate to one another.
