Interviews: AMYCANBE

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Alternative Rock band AMYCANBE, from Italy. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were really dubious about the name… I remember I was pushing some “astronomical” names…sci-fi influenced stuff..and anyone looked at me as I was crazy…well..they were probably right since , it would have been  very inappropriate now...

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Well…we are not really “wanting” to follow a genre… at least.. we try to var (maybe this is only happening in our or my heads..), but we have for sure a “laptop approach” since we are rarely rehearsing all together, so anyone try and experiment at home, then he proposes his stuff to bandmates and we finish songs together..but ..   damage is already done at this point!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew anyone (except Francesca..)  in one way or another. .. since I already “worked" with Mattia and Glauco years before.. but it all started when me and Marco started playing together because I was looking for bandmates and never had an original project..so he was playing in a Hard-Core-Nu-metal with a classmate of mine..and this guy had the brilliant idea to introduce us.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Me: Radiohead
Marco:  Blonde Redhead
Matta:  James Brown
Francesca: Nina Simone

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything..really… starting from what happens near and above us.. Francesca really likes to write lyrics based on everyday life… and she really stress this when we play live…for example she always likes to remember when some neighbors scratched Marco’s car (well.they are scratching sometimes even now…AAARR!!!!) because they didn’t like what (and how loud) we play…!

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Cotignola, a town near where we live, in a very nice venue..it was an old rail yard turned into a theatre with 2 rows of  descending armchair.. where they project films, play theatre..and they have concerts of course! All of this in a small town… it is wonderful when you see these town's in a tizzy !

7. Where would you like to act?

I like to think big.. I think we are ready to support Depeche Mode in some Italian (and European) Stadiums..! ahahaha!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

See above.   ;)

9. Whom not?

There is not really someone I dislike…well maybe there are more than one… but it is sometimes stupid to reject it out of hand.   10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  Not really… we always like to have fun and to joke before entering the stage…it’s freeing and cathartic.  11. What bands have inspired you the most?   For me, Radiohead and above all Jonny Greenwood played a very important role to determine what I like in modern electronic music mixed with traditional instruments…   Anyone of us has very different taste.. there are some "fixed points” .. meaning bands and artists everyone in the band CANNOT dislike… say Beatles, Elliott Smith, Lucio Battisti...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Unfortunately… our fans are not so Fanatics… instead they are such polite and educated people… I wish they could ask more .. oh…there is a quite strange thing.. some years ago i sold (stupid me!!) a vintage Italian synth we used live in the first concerts.. they guy who bought it asked very insistently to sign it… but since I am a fetishist.. and I didn’t feel worthy of this.. I signed a postcard from Cervia..the beautiful town where we  came from… he never answered me… maybe it was not what he expected…!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the best fans in the whole world..of course… how could  we think differently!?!  Recently while touring in South Italy someone robbed us of everything… and this episode has had enormous resonance, to such an extent  that I Ironically  call this “the most famous thing we did in the past 10 years!!!”.. in less than a month we were able to buy almost everything again, because our fans and friends donated artwork and stuff… they made it clear how great is the Love they deserve for us. It was mind-blowing.

14. What do you think of our site?

Brutal! I would say! :-)   ....There are a lot of bands I never heard of!...but that it is not honestly referring the main genre were you are focused in I think...  ...when I read blogs or magazines around the world I see that there so many differences between Italian ones and others...it looks like the artists the get some attention (or that are simply promoted) are so different from country to country...but I feel that is more a decision by labels or others in general than a question of pure taste of people....there are so many artists around that you get lost, but it is nice to find out the good ones, often thanks to blogs like yours.

15. Something to add?

We would really like to tour Europe sometimes soon, the last time we got out from Italy, in UK it was amazing...and we would like to have another great experience you know, even as support act would be nice...and great fun I am sure!
