Interviews: Major Moment

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Major Moment from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea came as a result of a collective brainstorm we had a couple years ago, trying to settle on the name. There were many options, but only a couple good ones. “Major Moment” was one of them. “The Sign You Want” was another good one, take it while it lasts. You’re welcome!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s not like we sat down and decided “we should play rock music”, we just play the type of music we grew up listening to, that we love, but with modern influences in mind. We were always fans of rock music, and even though it’s a genre that’s far from being popular these days, we’re here to change that!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Just Andrey & Sasha knew each other long before the band started, but she didn’t join the band until our second gig for which she volunteered to help on backing vocals as a one-off special appearance, the rest is history.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Andrey & Sasha: Linkin Park

Eddie: Dance Gavin Dance

Daniel: Bonobo

Xanon: Israel Houghton & New Breed

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Literally, everything that surrounds us, and also things that lie deep within. We have written songs about many topics that are important to us: current events can be inspiring (a new song of ours called “No Fear” was inspired by how egocentric and intolerant to others’ opinions we grew in the past couple years, in the light of political divide), current trends (another new song of ours called “Dead” is talking about dealing with the pressure of the modern world, people expecting a 24/7 availability, cell phones becoming our communication hubs, etc). The passing of people we were looking up to (“How Would You Know?” was dedicated to Chris Cornell & Chester Bennington who died to suicide). Our own experiences, relationships (“Mistakes” started as a single apology line from a real life argument), people quitting the band and failing us (“What It’s Like”), etc.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played “Girls Rock” night at “Fête Music Hall” in Providence, RI. It was a dedication to local female fronted bands, Major Moment being one of them. Super cool venue, great bands on the bill, pro sound & lighting, friendly atmosphere. This is a recipe for a great show!

7. Where would you like to perform?

Andrey: Madison Square Garden, Hollywood Bowl, big arenas in Russia Sasha: Whisky A Go Go in LA Daniel: Chain Reaction in LA

Eddie: Aaron’s Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta Xanon: House of Blues (didn’t specify which one, I guess, we’ll have to go on a nationwide tour playing Houses of Blues everywhere, lmao, but the one in Boston would be a good start)

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Obviously, with bands or members of bands that have been our inspiration throughout the years, the bands we’re looking up to, but we’re also totally down to play with our friends and people who play the same type of music.

9. Whom not?

It’s a tough question. We would respectfully decline to share the bill if we felt either the band’s aesthetic is not quite fitting, the genre / sound is VERY different (and we shared bills with rappers, pop, blues, country, electronic, metal, hardcore acts in the past), or there is a personal aspect that we just can’t jibe with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we've dealt pretty good with it so far. The things we’re still nervous about are probably regarding technical details, we have quite a complex setup, and are still getting used to it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon, Cold, Papa Roach, Coldplay, Keane, Poets of the Fall.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Great question, but unfortunately we don’t have a great answer for it. Yet…

13. What do you think of your fans?

We’re super-happy we have such a supportive friendly fanbase all over the world! It’s getting harder and harder to reach people organically, so we encourage everyone to follow us and feel free to drop us a line, we personally respond to ALL and every message we get.

14. What do you think of our site?

Thank you for helping new artists to get discovered, regardless of the genre, it seems like you cover quite a variety, which is very cool!

15. Something to add?

Please follow us on social media, drop us a line, let’s be friends!
