Interviews: Melt

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Metal band, Melt, from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Where? In a squat, an abandoned house in which we've spent the summer of 2010. And it came out just like that... this was an evening made of sadness, furor and alcohol, I was thinking about the movie Blade Runner, the tears in the rain scene and i thought 'yeah, it's pretty about melting into... the rain, or whatever you call it'. 2.Why did you want to play this genre? We appreciate the metal genre but just as listeners, we wouldn't play it because the genre itself takes too much place in the music, i don't know if you know what i mean: it's musicaly very codified. And it's the same for rock music: we can appreciate it but not play it because it's not loud enough, so we made a mix of rock and metal. 3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? Charlotte, guitarist singer, and I knew each other since 2007, 8 years before the band was formed. 4. Each band member favourite band? Charlotte (guitarist singer): Nirvana Roméo (drums): Reverend Bizarre Jux (bass): Sepultura, Dead can dance Olivier (guitarist): Sixteen Horsepower, Current 93, Legenda, Orphanage. 5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? Being away from people, cities... from civilization in general, in the quiet of nature, feeling my inner calm. And guitar, piano... the instruments makes a lot to inspire you, they're very clever, those instruments... 6. Where was your last gig? ho, long ago, summer 2019, after that we decided to take a break to work on our 2nd album, and also to take a break because we've spent the 4 last years playing live. 7. Where would you like to perform? Anywhere under the stars, outside, into nature, in a forest.... 8. Whom would you like to perform with? Well, Current 93 would be a good pick, or Sixteen Horsepower, but the band do no longer exist. 9. Whom not? Heu... nothing comes to my mind, sorry. 10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? Stage fright, yes of course, in our beginnings i was shaking and i had to make huge efforts to stay calm... i just endured that for month until i was at ease. The best thing to do is not give a fuck about how you play, it helps relaxing, but i’s an easy thing to say cos in reality when you begin playing live you want to play your songs well... After several gigs you’re more at ease with the playing, you know the songs by heart and then you don’t care about playing one or two wrong notes sometimes. Especially at the end of a show when you’re exhausted and half dead. 11. What bands have inspired you the most? Honestly, none. I'm a too bad guitarist to play stuff that would make you think about another band, and i'm not the fan type (except for iron maiden but come on, i was a teenager...) so i don't want to sound like anything you would know. Charlotte and I's inspiration is too personal. 12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? In a way, that could be "stop playing". We played at a concert and at the end a girl came to find us and told us that she had to leave the place cos the music was too emotional, it made her feel.. i don't know, a state she couldn't stand, i guess. 13. What do you think of your fans? They're the best. No honestly again i don't know, i don't think we have fans or at least i don't know them, there are people who discovers us and they always talk about how our music moved them in an unique way... good people i think. 14. What do you think of our site? It's pretty smart, i like the organization by genre, it's smart, really. 15. Something to add?
