Interviews: Shattered Hope

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal/Death Metal band, Shattered Hope, from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were thinking about a name that could reflect our music. One day, while listening to Paradise Lost's "Shattered" from Gothic album, we noticed how beautiful that word sounded. We combined it with "Hope" as it sounded really good. Moreover, we liked the fact that the band's name was created by the combination of a negative and a positive word, giving it a really strange meaning.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It's what we loved, as we started the band by playing covers to beloved bands like My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Katatonia etc. That kind of music express exactly what we have, or haven't, in our minds.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Most of the former band member knew each other before the formation of the band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

For Nick is Stereo Nova, for Sakis is Nirvana, for me is Pink Floyd, for Thanasis is Death and for Yiannis is Candlemass.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Almost everything. Books, movies, experiences of our everyday lives, stories of other people, music and many other things.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was about a year ago in Athens at The Room of Doom II festival.

7. Where would you like to act?

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Black Sabbath

9. Whom not?

Any band with deva behaviour or nazi ideology.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not exactly. If I remember well enough, in the first live shows of the band, we were a little bit anxious in the beginning of each one. Our advice for the beginners is just to enjoy their music. This beats anxiety and makes you a better live band.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Shape of Despair, Saturnus, Mourning Beloveth and Esoteric are the main influences. The list is huge.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

After a live show, a fan approached and talked with us, but he thought he was talking with another band. He told us that a video of a song we had was awesome, although we hadn't had any.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them!!

14. What do you think of our site?

Spectacular!! Keep it like that!!!

15. Something add?

On November 6th our third album "Vespers" will be released by Solitude Productions. We hope you'll enjoy it!!
