Interviews: Devilz by Definition

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, Devilz By Definition from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name is exactly as it sounds. we are "devilz" but only by definition. We are advocates of mental health and well-being, but hide behind a cloak of darkness. Popz came up with the name

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Because the driving force and energy in metal are like no other. The riffs, the solos the breakdowns, the pure driving energy is so intense that it courses through your veins like battery acid

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The band has been through a wide variety of lineup changes, singers switching with drummers, guitarists switching with bass players, and people coming and going when it just didn't work out.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Pops: Pantera

Markus: Black Sabbath

Teddy: I don't have a favorite band

Couv: Dream Theater

Shawn: Parkway Drive

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We inspire each other to write songs. That and all the people from the last question lol

6. Where was your last gig?

A small bar in Downtown Windsor called meteor on university ave. And it was the strangest thing ever. Not because of the bar, but because of the pandemic restrictions. We played a metal show, with a giant sheet of plexiglass on stage, and everyone was sitting down, not yelling, not moshing, and not moving. Like a scene out of the twilight zone.

7. Where would you like to act?

Any huge arena would be nice. Molson Amphitheater in Toronto, DTE energy music theater, whatever. Anywhere and everywhere!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be a dream of ours to open or play with any big-name metal bands such as Slipknot, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, or anybody in the metal genre for that matter

9. Whom not?

Who knot ….lol...well...alternative rock bands? I don't know. Definitely not Nickelback, we would play with Nickelback even if the concert was sold out.

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

None of us really suffer from stage fright anymore. But we've all had our moments of anxiety before hitting a stage. Sometimes, things go wrong last minute before showtime, that's usually when Couv starts to panic lol. But we always manage to shelf it and kick ass. Tips for beginners? Relax lol be yourself, have fun. The most important thing to do is have fun, laugh if you make a mistake, recover quickly. Because if you are having fun, everyone else is having fun.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Pops: Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, Slayer, Pantera

Markus: Black Sabbath, Slayer, Lamb of God

Teddy: just the people I've enjoyed making music with inspired me

Couv: classic rock bands, Dream Theater, Pantera, Lamb of God, and my personal favorites, classical music

Shawn: my musical influences are the same as Pops

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Someone once asked Couv for a lock of his hair and is stage underwear lol

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans mean the world to us. We are grateful for each and every person that takes the time to listen to our songs, come out to shows, buy a t-shirt, follow us on tours, etc… we are extremely humbled and grateful for all the support we receive. We like to think of our fanbase as a family. One big family of me called #Devilzfam

14. What do you think of our site?

Awesome! Lots of great bands and very informative. Love the free music section as well, nice touch. It's nice that you are able to link all of these great bands together through your site

15. Something add?

Honestly, maybe a way to introduce bands directly to record labels searching for bands. But in all honesty, your website is perfect guys, there is some much detail and connection that it really doesn't need anything. Great job! Maybe
