Interviews: LYDIA CAN´T BREATHE

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band,
LYDIA CAN´T BREATHE from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band got booked for our first show, but we were still working on a band name. We basically got together, did a bunch of drugs and watched cult classic movies for inspiration. The original guitar player started laughing so hard he couldn't breathe during "Beetlejuice," and Lydia, Wynona Ridder's character, ended up as part of the band name.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It's probably the energy and the fans that do it for us. It's also the kind of music we all listen to the most, but we definitely branch out in our listening tastes outside of metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The original band members went to high school together, but everyone in the band now met through the local music scene in Central Florida.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Kyle: AC/DC, Slipknot, Beatles

Shad: Between the Buried and Me (After the Burial, Jinjer, Chuggaboom, Slipknot, Alice in Chains, Queen Led Zeppelin to name a few)

Ryan: Nothing More, Beartooth

Josh: Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Slipknot, Chevelle

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Kyle: Weed

Shad: For me, I feel my best writing happens when I have a lot of issues that I need to face, and the music is an expression or a release of those emotions, good or bad.

Ryan: Watching live music

6. Where was your last gig?

The Brass Mug in Tampa, FL

7. Where would you like to act?

Festivals are the most fun... and exhausting. We would love to be involved with old festival reboots like Ozzfest and Warped Tour if they come back around... and Madison Square Garden!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I think we would all be excited to play with Slipknot. We probably all draw a little influence from them.

9. Whom not?

Maybe Puddle of Mudd, at least until dude lives down the Nirvana covers lol... and no Nickleback

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Kyle: I used to throw up before every show for the first year we played! Then I finally chilled out. Now I'm never nervous before a show even if it's a packed festival!

Shad: I never really got stage fright. There's been a few times when I was nervous at huge shows, but it all goes away when the first song gets going. The worst anxiety I get is if my in-ear monitor shuts off when I have a harmony part coming up, but that's pretty rare.

Josh: I jerk off

Ryan: I don't really get stage fright, but I usually relax more after the first song in the set.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Kyle: The Doors, Eminem and Prince

Josh: Watching old videos of Buddy Rich play. That old guy kills it!

Shad: Alice in Chains made me want to play music as a kid, but I would say that my writing style comes from more progressive influences like Primus, Slipknot and Between the Buried and Me.

Ryan: A Day to Remeber

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I think we have been offered weirder things than we've been asked for. There was one sound guy at a show that invited us to party after the show and proceeded to offer us an entire buffet of the hardest drugs ever. We only dipped a toe in that pond, but we ended up on the roof trying to understand why all the other buildings around us also had roofs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are some really kick ass people. We have people all over the country that hook us up with massive hospitality and have a blast with us at shows and usually afterwards too. That's really one of the biggest payoffs of the live experience, getting to feed off the energy of people who totally dig what we are doing and creating memories with those people.

14. What do you think of our site?

We dig the format. It's easy to find the new releases and the art that goes with them, but we were totally sold when we saw that the first thing on your genre list was aliencore!

15. Something you'd like to add?

Go check out our new singles, "Ups and Downs" and "Sheep." Also, don't take a shit where I'm going to be!
