Interviews: Snipers Of Babel

We have had the opportunity to interview the Industrial Metal band Snipers Of Babel from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Me (Mike Bossier) and Tommy Mott, (one of our original singers who is no longer in the band) we’re going back-and-forth on names and I brought up a name that had Babylon in it and then he came back with snipers of babel and it just stuck.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I wanted to play music that I would want to listen to. I am a fan of industrial music industrial metal music soundtrack and heavy-metal of all the different genres and I kind of wanted to put a project together that had all of these elements in it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, I knew everybody in the band and had the luck and opportunity to handpick whoever I wanted. I met Layla Singer through a friend a little bit later when I was looking for a female vocalist.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Unfortunately, sad events and experiences is when I am most creative and let’s just say I’ve written quite a lot these last two years.

5. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was at a local club called Fish Head Cantina out here in Maryland. They do local and regional acts, great spot for Metal.

6. Where would you like to act?

It would be awesome to get on more festivals we were kind of getting on a roll and then Covid and a bunch of other shit hit so we’re trying to get that momentum going again.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

The cool thing about this band is we kind of fit in with any type of metal genre because if you listen to our songs you’ll find lots of those styles somewhere in our music, so as long as it’s a metal festival we’re good!

8. Whom not?

Well, the worst thing is getting put on an event or a bill with bands that are totally out of your spectrum of music because odds are the fans of the bill you’re on are not gonna like you.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I kind of did on my very first show ever when I was in a cover band I didn’t really know what to expect so I think after the first couple songs I was like this ain’t so bad lol. My advice to Young Bands trying to get over that would be to slowly start inviting people over to your rehearsal spot when you’re getting your songs together for a show. And then start doing small house parties and then before you know it you’ll be doing bigger shows and it’ll feel more natural to you.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

The biggest inspiration I have Gotten is from movie soundtrack and 80s and 90s industrial music. So bands like Front line Assembly,Ministry,Fear Factory,KMFDM,Bile……..

11. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My gum

12. What do you think of your fans?

Love all of them, and honestly the music I write is a huge form of therapy for me and when I see how it affects some of our fans it’s the most powerful feeling you could ever feel when it comes to writing and playing music. I love all of our fans because most of them who are a fan of our music have very broad musical tastes and don’t limit themselves to just one genre of music while shutting everything else out. Great open minded people!

13. What do you think of our site?

I love your site because without your types of sights it would be hard to spread the music especially in a more underground scene that we are in, so without you guys we wouldn’t be able to get our music out there as much as we would like to so kudos to you brother and everything that you’re doing we need more like you!

14. Something to add?

Yes please check out Snipers of Babel on all the different platforms, please like and subscribe on YouTube. We’re putting music out there very often so please check it out!!!! Also check out another project I’m in called Gaffled, featuring Will Dorsey(drums for Body Count). Also, check out LAPIDA the great Mexican standoff!!! This is an awesome record that we were a part of and had the opportunity to work alongside many great artists and musicians including Christian Olde Wolbers(from ex Fear Factory)Thanks for having me!!!! \m/!!!!
