Interviews: TEARDOWN

We have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band TEARDOWN from Austria. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

There were already several formations of the band and some members left and then again others joined. At one point, when there was another breakup. Dominik and Niki were the last remaining members of the band, so they came up with the name “Teardown”, which described the situation for them very accurately.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

There wasn’t a clear decision to dive into this genre. It just evolved from the fact that we all like metal with its many facets and the possibility to express ourselves in a lot of different ways. On the other hand, metal music can be physically and technically demanding which adds another layer of complexity that we really strive for.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we met through music.

4. each band members favourite band?

Niki: Alter Bridge

Bommel: Trivium

Mäcky: Parkway Drive

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As most of our songs deal with personal challenges there are many inspirations for us to start writing. Whether it is something that concerns us, is happening in our personal life or we can relate to does not matter as long as it sparks a sudden flash of inspiration. For us, expressing this kind of thoughts through music acts as a pressure relief and is the main drive behind the writing process.

6. Where was your last gig?

Unfortunately, circumstances aren't really in our favor because of COVID as most venues were closed. When they started to open again, our former drummer sadly had to leave the band because of recent changes in his personal life. So, we haven't really had a chance to play live yet but we are looking forward to 2022 and the possibilities that will come our way when we release the EP and hopefully find the remaining members again.

7. Where would you like to act?

Right now we aim to play local and smaller gigs, but in the future our goal is to play in bigger venues and be part of festivals.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

As you can see our favourite bands are very different. Therefore it ́s difficult to find an answer to this question. But we are very open about music-genres as you will see in our upcoming EP. However, each one of us would love to be together on stage with our favourite artists.

9. Whom not?

No one, as long as we get booked and there ́s free beer.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

There are many ways to avoid stagefright. Some say alcohol might be one of the best ways to calm down. But you also need to perform, so maybe it ́s not the best choice. What we think helps the most, is surrounding yourself with people you know, like band members or friends

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing comes to mind.

12. What do you think of your fans?

We appreciate every kind of support and we are greatful for that. But especially we ́d like to thank the people closest to us as they had to listen to our crap for hours on end.

13. What do you think of our site?

Pages like breathingthecore.com are crucial, especially for newcomer and independent bands. Every platform where you can reach out to new people is helpful. Without that support it is hard to build up your own fanbase. For the metal genre in particular sites like these are desperately needed.

14. Something to add?

Riebel recipe (typical meal from our region):

150 g whipped cream or 150 g milk
225 g water
1 - 2 pinches of salt
100 - 120 g corn semolina
20 - 30 g clarified butter

Preparation

Add salt and butter to the boiling milk, stir in the corn semolina, cover and leave to swell on the edge of the stove for a few hours. Then slowly fry with clarified butter until crispy, "rubbing" again and again (use a wooden spoon to break the mixture into small pieces). Enjoy with milk, coffee or apple puree.
