Interviews About Albums: KOLLAPS\E - The Pandemic Sessions (2021)

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

"The Pandemic Sessions" has been out for almost a year now and the two tracks are the first stuff we have ever released.

But the overall response has been insanely good! Awesome reviews and features. Been fortunate enough to be played at numerous radio stations, pods, compilations etc. So we couldn't be more proud and humbled.

If I should say something about the actual music ; ) I have to say that it's heavy and gritty with screaming vocals and beautiful melodies.

In the vein of Breach, Cult of Luna, Neurosis, and stuff like that!

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Since it was written and recorded, mixed and mastered at home during the lockdown, this was a name that came to me. It's been used before I'm sure.
But it was fitting.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

It's a collaborative effort. Usually, me (Daniel - Guitar/vocals) or Peter (Guitar) comes up with some stuff and then record it at home. With shitty drums and whatnot.

Then we take it to the rehearsal place and work on it from there. It was basically the same for the E.P.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

It's hard. Even if there's only two songs, both carry an impact.

But for the sake of it I have to choose "Murrain". Mainly because it was the first song that really struck a nerve and kind of paved the way for our sound.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

PLAGUES!

Radiant//Static is about a more modern kind of plague which is how we a transforming ourselves into avatars. Living our lives through screens and apps and the likes.

I mean, phones and socialmedia etc can be great, but we can't forget how to live and act and talk like living beings. The art of conversation is dying.

Murrain (Old english word for Cattle plague) is about us Humans/Humanity being the greatest plague for centuries. And what we are seeing in Covid, etc, is probably natures way to reduce the population. It's been known to happen before.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

‘Wither away,
Wither away of pestilence
Wash away,
The foul stench of humanity.’

- Murrain.

Full lyrics can be viewed on our bandcamp.

7. Which inspirations haven been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

I guess all of it. Everyday situations or it could be a melody you hear in passerby or anything really. We listen to all sorts of music so I will not go a head and say that this or that band inspired us.

But of course, there are many. I love when people say we sound like this or that and it's stuff you've never heard or aren't familiar with... So the take from it what you will...

8. Something to add?

Thank you Breathingthecore for the questions and the interest.
And to whom ever is reading, Thank you!

If you have a moment please check out our "The Pandemic Sessions".
New stuff is in the making and we are aiming for a 2022 release!
