Interviews: The Pauline Principle

This is a new interview with the Metalcore band The Pauline Principle. Check out the interview and follow the band on their INSTAGRAM PROFILE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

It was important to us to have a band name that stands for something. The name should convey something and not only the genre of our music. So we started dealing with complex deceases, historical events, religious facts, and so on to find something we could identify with. When we found the Pauline Principle we liked the meaning and the sound of it immediately.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We love listening to Metalcore. We grew up with the classical 00´s drop-c Metalcore and also get inspiration from the more technical low tuned modern Metalcore. We love the energy and aggressiveness of Metalcore. It’s a beautiful Metal genre and we enjoy playing around with its elements.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Not at all. We found each other entirely online. We live in different countries, even on different continents. But the music connects us.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Josh: Between The Buried And Me

Nolan: Silverstein

Ivan: KISS

André: Architects

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We want every single song to surpass the previous release. We want to develop and improve our songwriting, our sound. We want to try out new things such as features or different instruments. Above that we`re of course inspired by other bands. New songs. Old songs. A riff that comes to our mind can be extremely inspiring when it develops into a whole new song idea.

6. Where was your last gig?

Only in our imagination as we live on different continents.

7. Where would you like to act?

In Russia, USA and Germany…our home countries.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

One Chorus with Howard Jones and we`re in Metalcore heaven

9. Who not?

We think any feature can bring you forward as band and there`s nobody on our mind to whom this does not apply

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Be well prepared. Rehearse and practice to build up self-confidence. Remember the 5 P´s: Proper preparation prevents poor performance. And alcohol of course!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

August Burns Red, ERRA, Mechina, Architects

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven’t experienced that situation yet

13. What do you think of your fans?

We appreciate them a lot as we share the same passion for straightforward Metalcore which is lacking badly in today’s Metalcore scene. We compose and make music because that’s what we love to do but the positive feedback we get from people who like our music is such a motivation to push it a bit further on the next release. We want to deliver what our fans expect us to but we also want to surprise them in a positive way.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s so hard for unsigned bands to reach a larger audience with their music so breathing the core is a great platform to bring musicians and potential fans together.
