Interviews About Albums: Blood Of Indigo - Dawn Of The Shaded World (2022)

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

We call the style of music we create Dark Fantasy Metal and it’s a very unique style of a concept album. Each track zooms in closely on a story arc that occurs and contributes to the greater vision of our Blood of Indigo universe.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

“Dawn of The Shaded World” is about the birth of contrast through the creation of a new world. It’s about staining a blank canvas with a vast range of colorful paints that come from your mind that manifest physical things. Sometimes those things originate from parts of us that we never knew existed and they can create things that are dark and terrifying or beautiful and majestic.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

We all contribute to the composition of the album in our own way. I (Alex) contribute to the lead vocals, lyrics, and, storytelling. Mariusz contributes to the guitars, song structure, drums, mixing/mastering, and Nathan contributes to the orchestrations, piano, mixing/mastering, and programming. We all work together on our music as a team.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

That’s a tough question because it’s like choosing your favorite child, but it all depends on what I feel like listening to. There’s a song on this album for every mood. If I’m feeling like I want to listen to epic boss music, “Sphynx, Collector of Eyes.” If I want something dark and romantic, “Corpse Bride.” If I’m feeling like a vampire today, “Angelus, the ‘Faceless’ Vampire.” etc. Every song has its own vibe.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

Yes, there are many messages that can be taken from this album, but the one thing I want people to remember is that this album is about embracing your true and most authentic self. Let go of who you thought you were supposed to be and embrace the real you. There’s a meditation that I wrote which is inside the physical booklet of the CD. Use it before you listen to the album. It will bring you to a state of mind which heightens the album listening experience.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

Yes, one of my favorite lines from the album is from the song, “Corpse Bride”“Look me in the eyes and tell me that you love me. (and you know it’s true) I just want to feel your rotting flesh fill my empty cup.” I’m really proud of that line because I managed to marry (no pun intended) the themes of horror and romance in one sentence while building emotional tension and creating such a visceral image with words.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks specially?

We were really inspired by video games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Legend of Zelda while writing this album and even some of our favorite bands like Dimmu Borgir and Nightwish. I would specifically like to thank my bandmates, Mariusz and Nathan for being awesome friends and bandmates. I would also like to thank Lindsay Schoolcraft for being such an amazing friend and feature on this album. She inspired us to go for our dreams and make this vision become a reality. We’ve created something really special through this album.
