Interviews: Strengthbeyondyou

This is a new interview with the Metal band Strengthbeyondyou from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on his FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

StrengthBeyondYou is basically S.B.U.(our original name) spelled out. As a band, we were going back and forth with whether should we change the name or not... So, when the world stopped, we really came together and were like " If we're going to do this, then let's overhaul everything... We took care of our business behind the scenes, made some changes, and ultimately decided to change our name... Once we announced it, it felt like a breath of fresh air.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

3 reasons... Well, people, I should say. Phil from Pantera, Lajon from Sevendust, and a friend of mine that passed away years ago. His name was Steve Eagle. He was never famous, but onstage he had energy, I never saw in person before, so he made me go " If I can do it, so can I". I didn't know how, but I wanted to do what he was doing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, me and Demarcus (Drummer) have known each since we were 15-16 years old... We've always wanted to make music together, and it took some time to do it, but it's awesome to jam with one of your best friends and the best drummer you know...

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For me, it's not just one... It's Pantera Deftones Parkway Drive Rage Against the Machine There are so many bands Answer

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What inspires me to write is life... Whether if it's about my life or the world around me, you know? When I was writing lyrics for rebirth and redemption, those words came from a pure place... The EP release, won't be any different. It's therapeutic to get those emotions out.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at PJ's Lager House in the Corktown district of Detroit. It was for the Corktown Music Festival, it was a great time... Great crowd, responses. Good time overall.

7. Where would you like to act?

I wanna play venues where we give the audience a quality show and let folks know what Strength Beyond You is all about.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be cool to do a feature with either Lajon from Sevendust or maybe Randy Blythe from Lamb of God... Chino would be dope too.

9. Who not?

You guessed it, Frank Stallone (Old school Norm Macdonald joke)

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Me, no.. it doesn't mean I don't get nervous, but I don't have stage fright... I'm afraid of tripping over a cord onstage more than stage fright itself. My advice... Just breathe and settle your nerves.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Screaming wise.. it's Pantera, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, DevilDriver/Coal Chamber. Singing wise, it's Dallas Green from City and Colour, Scotter Ward from Cold, Deftones, sevendust... Too many to mention, it'll take hours haha

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Hasn't happened yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I love our fans. I appreciate them so much. I love every fan we have and will make.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's awesome. It's a great platform for underground music. There are tons of great bands and content on here. Grade A badass 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿.

15. Something to add?

If you're in the metro Detroit area, we will be a part of the Hamtramack Music Festival. Saturday night, August 13th, we will be headlining the Ant Hall. We're looking forward this show and want everyone to come out and raise hell with us . It's gonna be a damn good night.
