Interviews About Albums: Bridge Of Souls - Iris (2022)

In this new interview, we sat down with the French Modern Metal/Metalcore band Bridge Of Souls to ask some questions about their new album "Iris"

1. Hi Guys, what can you say about your debut album “Iris”?

The IRIS album is a concept. We illustrate our feelings about the current era through iris, the messenger goddess of the Greek gods, in a world where humanity and technology are one. It’s a criticism of society where Humans, by constantly seeking progress, ends up self-destructing. Fruit of 2 years of composition work, this album generally mixes very brutal and punchy verses, with very pop choruses and melodies.

Any fan of metalcore and modern metal can go there!

2. What is the meaning of the album name?

Iris is the messenger goddess of the Greek gods allowing the connection between gods and humans. But the iris is also the circular and colored part of the human eyes through which it receives information from what surrounds us.

In this album, we put ourselves in the place of our goddess to explore the human soul. Human is at the center of our lyrics and we describe these states of mind, their behavior, and the consequences of their actions.

We talk about the soul in pain, abandonment, depression, and self-search but also about the state of the world in which we live. It's a rather dark album but it always leaves a hint of hope and redemption.

3. Which one is the composer of the songs?

The main composer is Thomas Fabre, the guitarist of the group.

But we all compose. Thomas often writes the main lines and we each come afterward to bring our ideas. Once the structure is well defined, we meet in the studio to finalize the details.

As for the lyrics, the singer Jérémy Lion takes care of it.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Choosing one is really difficult but the song IRIS is really the one that represents us the most on this album. That's why we decided to make it our first music video.

It shows the turning point taken in our musical style.

More technical, sharper, which tackles a topical subject, thirst for progress and greed.

If you are fond of modern metal, this piece should please you

5. Is there a special message in “Iris”? If there is, what it is?

Yes, it’s all about redemption. The album is very dark but the underlying message is to stop destroying everything through progress. The earth, human relationship, and everything today is endangered by greed and the thirst for power humans.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“I watched darkness sweep the day after your life

Let me show you the future, failing guy

Stacking black roses lie after lie

Destroying everything you find” IRIS

“I died, I suffered, I tried to keep my feet on the ground and give you something better” LEGACY

“Building chemical paradise To forget your perfidy” SANCTUARY

“For we would become as gods, it’s all gone to waste” THE GREATEST SILENCE

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The inspiration on this album comes to us from current society (revolts of peoples, covid, poverty and wealth) but also from our personal stories so thank you to all of humanity.

8. Something to add guys?

We hope that you will like this album and that we will find as many people as possible on the roads during our live shows.
