Interviews: Nomadic Narwhal

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Cinematic Metal/Progressive Metal/Instrumental Metal/Symphonic Metal solo artist Nomadic Narwhal from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name itself was planned. It took some time, but I really wanted to find a way to tie together my love for the ocean and creating music. I felt like a Narwhal going it alone in a vast open ocean seemed to fit perfectly.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I really didn't see much of it out there in this form. My favorite types of music are modern metal, orchestral and instrumental genres, so it seemed to make sense to at least try to put all of those pieces together and try to make something special with them.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

This is a solo project so I would say yes, however I did discover a lot about myself in the formation of this project.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

I go in phases but right now it's Bonobo. I could listen to Bonobo forever.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In short, Sanity. That is really why Nomadic was born. It is my belief that everyone needs their own outlet in life. It really doesn't matter what it is, just doing the thing that levels you. The two things that really level me are being by the ocean and writing. It just keeps me grounded.

6. Where was your last gig?

Nomadic has yet to play live however that will change very soon in some very cool ways.

7. Where would you like to act?

Scandinavia and South America. Those are the dream tours.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Really just fellow metal bands with open minded members.

9. Whom not?

Bands that don't match a surrounding genre. Would probably make for quite a weird tour.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes. It's perfectly normal. My trick is to feel what you are playing. When you are feeling it, the crowd reacts to it, you move with instead of against and live the moment.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Misery Signals, Daniel Pemberton, and Soilwork

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Someone once asked me to sign their "Egg Baby". I did...

13. What do you think of your fans?

The Nomads are the world to me. The fact that Nomadic means more than just music to other people is something that is very special to me and I don't take lightly. There is now a responsibility to those who think and feel the same way about the Ocean. It's exciting!

14. What do you think of our site?

Love the site! Also very happy how it works so well on mobile. Keep it up!

15. Something to add?

Make Waves
