Interviews: Depressive Witches

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal band Depressive Witches from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were looking for a mysterious name, without any signification, for some people, the band name is stupid, but if you think about it, a depressive witch is just the perfect picture of solitude and madness. Everyone can have a sign on it

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We are black metal fans and classic rock’n’roll too. Mixing both was evidence. We love a lot of kinds of black metal, but for us, the best is when it’s simple, punky, and “in your face”. We are always looking for something basic and catchy, the true essence of rock’n’roll.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We are brothers, we didn't really search for other band members haha, a classic duo, without bass or second guitar. It was hard to find extreme metal musicians in our hometown or territory, so...

4. Each band member's favorite band?

We have both very similar tastes in music. For Sick Bab, his favorite band is surely Inquisition, Carpathian Forest... for Torvuus: Satanic Warmaster, Nargaroth. And about non-black metal artists, Motley Crue, Motorhead, The White Stripes, Ozzy Osbourne... But we have the same taste finally

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Witchcraft for sure, medieval fantasy too, depravation, personal themes... It’s various and sometimes personal, but usually grotesque

6. Where was your last gig?

We played in Switzerland, at Black Hole Fest III, last April 2022. It was our first festival, and we met cool artists.

7. Where would you like to act?

Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, US, Japan, The Netherlands... No matter the country, finally, let’s rock the earth!!!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I don’t think we’re interested in featuring, every artist is unique, and has to create his own stuff

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, of course, there is always stage fright. We don't really have tips, but I think that every musician has to understand that a rock show is not always perfect... and It doesn't have to be!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Inquisition, Carpathian Forest, Immortal... Even Motorhead and AC/DC, gothic rock... If it's epic and rock'n'roll, it's perfect

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don't remember any strange inquiry, but during the lockdown, a dude from Mexico made the very first Depressive Witches t-shirt with our logo. At the time, we had not released any songs yet!

12. What do you think of your fans?

They all su... Kidding!!! We had good feedback from our first album, and we met great people and fans during our tour in Eastern Europe. We always had great greetings, and we want to say a huge thanks to everyone

13. What do you think of our site?

It looks like a complete website about rock and metal, keep up the work!

14. Something to add?

If you want to create something, the only person you have to obey... is you and only yourself!
