Interviews: Otherworldly Entity

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Nu-Metal band Otherworldly Entity from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Otherworldly Entity was formed as John Harris and the Otherworldly Entities in support of my solo album DICHOTOMY. I am a renowned professional paranormal investigator, so the Otherworldly Entity idea was inspired by that. As the band started writing material and veering away from my solo music, the band name was changed to reflect the singular entity that the band is, working together towards a common goal. Otherworldly Entity is about that weird space between awake and asleep, life and death, dark and light. It's about the duality of existence.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Numetal is such a wide genre, with so many influences. Zlatko and I met playing Americana and folk music, both with foreign influence. It seemed like bringing that into the metal world naturally fit with nu-metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Zlatko and I did. We met playing acoustic shows and open mic nights. We didn't meet Shawn until after Otherworldly Entity had already been around for a couple of years

4. Each band member's favorite band?

John - Blue October

Zlatko - Pink Floyd

Shawn - Fit For a King

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It's all about the genuine experience. I can't write about things lyrically that I haven't experienced. That's too fake to me.

6. Where was your last gig?

I believe that was Riverside Havoc in Brewerton, NY

7. Where would you like to act?

I would love to play NYC and New Orleans. Those are two cities I feel just work with our sound

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Ice Nine Kills. They bring the drama, which I love to bring to our music

9. Whom not?

There really isn't anyone we wouldn't want to work with

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I used to suffer from stage fright. It was very crippling at times. For me, the only solution was to just face it and deal with it. Exposure therapy, I guess. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I have to say that Cold was a huge influence and inspiration for us. We've played with them a couple of times, and really grew a lot and learned a lot in those situations. Infected Rain was another amazing experience for us.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I had a fan ask me for my empty Mtn Dew bottle once. I gave it to them, but have no idea what their plan was

13. What do you think of your fans?

I absolutely adore them. We've had so much fun with our fans, and appreciate them to the core. They are so Otherworldly

14. What do you think of our site?

Love it. It's a great way to keep an eye on what's up and coming

15. Something to add?

Our new single SIN is streaming now, and the music video is out on our YouTube channel
