Interviews: Hollywood Nightmare

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Metalcore band, Hollywood Nightmare from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band's name was created before I joined but Scott and a past member Marcus made the name because we lived in Hollywood and it was the toughest, dirtiest, most ridiculous place to be and it was an absolute nightmare. From the people you’d meet and the things you see. But because of that it really strengthened who we are. and the name represents who we are and what we came from.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I feel like this genre of music brings out so much life during live preferences, that other genres don’t. The fact that you can write a song that everyone wants to go crazy moshing, crowd surfing, and head banging to, then switch up to a full sing-along tune, and also make a song that might make you cry. There’s really no limit to what you create in this genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I and Scott went to college together and would hang out every day before the band started. But the rest of the members I met through the creation of HN.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Kyle: Bring Me the Horizon

Scott: Born of Osiris

Dex: Suicide Silence

Luke: Imminence

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I write songs because it helps me vent about situations I feel and or experiences that I’m going through. So I’d say life challenges are what inspire me to write.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in San Diego, and it was our first time bringing HN down there so not too many people knew who we were. But it was awesome to see at the end how many new fans we gained and how many people enjoyed the show.

7. Where would you like to act?

I would really like to play a show in my home state Colorado and anything overseas!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I feel like a couple of people would be awesome to collaborate with, such as Noah from Bad Omens or Spencer from Ice Nine Kills.

9. Whom not?

I think it would be challenging to collaborate with Kanye west.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Every now and then I’ll get stage fright due to the crowd size or if I’m sick and my vocals aren’t feeling 100%. But the way I battle it is just knowing that I’ve done everything I can do to fully prepare for this moment and once I get out there, something kind of takes over and I’m not nervous anymore.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands that inspired me a lot have to be Bring Me The Horizon, Ice Nine Kills, and Bad Omens. Any band that can make a really good melody and go hard.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I would say the strangest thing a fan has done to us, Was this… This person is a musician herself and has no following at all. But created a fake fan page of her and commented on one of her own posts tagging us, accusing us of copyrighting and stealing her music, and threatening to sue us. Which was just hilarious.

13. What do you think of your fans?

The people that take the time to purchase our music and come to the shows I don’t like to call “Fans” because it feels a little demeaning, so I just call them our friends. And I enjoy hanging out with them and getting personal.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think this site is amazing, with reasonable pricing, the promotion really does its job and helps us spread our music to the areas that are out of our reach, and Zach is amazing at what he does, highly recommended it to all the other bands around the world to work with this team.

15. Something to add?

We really appreciate everyone including older and newer fans for listening to support us, thank you for discovering us. We are also working on new materials at this very moment, it’s different and personal, so stay tuned, good stuff is coming in 2023! Meanwhile, check out our newest album Inferno! It’s full of bangers for you to enjoy!
