Band Biographies: The Northern

Perfectly combining djent and metalcore, Canadian band The Northern stays true to themselves within a unique sound that fans have grown to love. "Solstice", their debut Tragic Hero Records 2017 full length release, was received in an extremely positive light, hitting # on the iTunes metal charts upon release. The album was featured in many notable outlets and playlists such as Alternative Press, Lambgoat, Revolver Magazine, New Noise, It Djents, Rock The Walls - idobi Radio, New Music Inferno, and multiple metalcore Spotify playlists.

The band released their late 2018 single "Samsara" to overwhelmingly positive reviews, even being added to Spotify playlist Got Djent? where it still remains. They toured consistently in 2018 through late 2019, including several international tours in the USA and Canada with bands such as VRSTY, Sleep Waker, ENOX, A Scent Like Wolves, and Pangaea.

After parting ways with Tragic Hero Records, the band released their long-awaited EP "Cloudburst" in December of 2021 with singles dropping earlier in the year, after overcoming multiple hurdles brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. With recording plans stalled for the same reasons, the band has finally recorded new music with producer Jon Dolese (Cane Hill, For The Fallen Dreams, Downswing) in 2022 and just dropped their first of many new singles with "Hourglass" on January 13th, 2023.
