Interviews About Albums: American Jetset - Love Kills (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Hard Rock band American Jetset to ask some questions about their latest album "Love Kills"

1. What can you say about this new EP?

Fans of Jetset will see that we’ve returned to the darker heavier vibe of our first record. That said, it’s loaded with surprises and other influences as well. The EP is our best-sounding record by far. People used to compare us to LA guns and Faster Pussycat, but our sound is much broader than that and inspired by cinematic themes and backdrops. It’s only 15 minutes long but this record takes you on a journey of sounds, styles, and stories beyond the limits of any Sunset Strip party band.

2. What is the meaning of the EP?

The EP can be summed up in four words: bondage, revenge, murder, and mourning. The songs are about the death of four separate relationships and the title LOVE KILLS is à propose.

3. Which one is the composer of the EP?

Ian Kaine MacGregor brings in most of the core ideas but the entire band finishes and arranges all the songs.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

“Black hearts & Bloody Bruises” does a great job of musically and thematically establishing the aesthetic of this record.

5. Is there a special message in this EP? If there is what it is?

Love Kills…it’s deadly!

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

All the lyrics of “Long Road to Nowhere” are particularly personal and wildly emotional. The sax helps tell that story and we suggest giving it a listen… I’ve been holding onto all the blame I laid on you for leaving 30 years and I blocked out the pain Now you’re gone and I can feel it I’m on a long long road to nowhere Without you life’s a nightmare I thought we’d make it back together I’m on a long long road to nowhere

7. Which inspirations have been important for this EP? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

This record gets away from the influences that are plotted on bands like ours. We created a true hybrid of sleaze, rock, goth, and pop and the result is a more sophisticated and mature version of American Jetset.

8. Something to add?

This year we will be touring the US extensively and will be heading to Europe for the first time ever. If you like what you hear please come check us out and scream along if you know the lyrics or not. See ya Monsters soon!
