Interviews: Gutted Christ

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Blackened Death Metal band, Gutted Christ from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

A former member (Jaydie) came up with the name outside of a show after chugging a Four Loko. He just kinda blurted it out and the other guys liked it. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It's just what we prefer to play on instruments. It's unlike any other genre on this planet.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I (Michael) knew Wargoat (Stephen, Bass) when I was still in my high school band, and after that broke up he approached me with the former drummer (Azrith) asking me to try out. I already knew Adam from years prior, and I met Kevin when he was playing with his old band (Psychotic Defilement).

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Michael: My all-time favorite band has to be AC/DC because Angus Young inspired me to pick up a guitar.

Jarrett: Gorgoroth

Stephen: Cannibal Corpse

Adam: I’ve thought about this for years and I don’t think I have one singular favorite band. I guess if I had to pick one I’d go with Archgoat, I’m not in the mood to listen to their whole discography back to back.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration just hits us randomly or we just have a thought about a cool song idea. Pretty straightforward.

6. Where was your last gig?

Canal Club in Richmond, VA opening for Vader, Krisiun, and Decrepit Birth

7. Where would you like to act?

We really wanna hit the West Coast, and we're hoping to hit Canada and Europe this year or next year.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We'd love to do a tour with Dying Fetus or Immolation. Really anyone that fits with us musically and we get along with.

9. Whom not?

We're not gonna throw dirt publicly haha

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Michael: Yes, a lot initially. I don't know when it stopped, but I was given tips from my brother Joe Randazza (Bayway) to make it stop. Just breathe, realize that your time on stage is all about you, and give all those people a good show. 

Adam: Yes and no. It used to be a lot worse and I’d just get drunk to handle it (I don’t recommend this) but you do get used to it with time. Just remember, you aren’t the only person people are watching, and a lot of people don’t have the balls to get on the stage in the first place.

Stephen: Not really - a little liquor and weed go a long way for calming nerves - don’t do that if you’re a lightweight though 😉 I respect anyone who will get up on a stage and put themselves out there, regardless of musical genre - fuck any haters, do your thing as long as it makes you happy.

Jarrett: Focus on the songs and forget that anyone is even watching. Always helped me.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Michael: Dying Fetus, Death, Immolation, Black Sabbath, Slayer

Jarrett: Nile, Dark Throne, Nordjevel, Behemoth, Dark Funeral

Stephen: Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Dark Funeral, Marduk

Adam: Personally, Archgoat, Incantation, and Morbid Angel are my biggest influences. As a band, you can hear that we really like Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and Dying Fetus.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We've signed titties and ripped bible pages, I think that's the "weirdest" thing I can think of.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think the world of all of ya! All you fuckers make this worth it. Seriously. 14. What do you think of our site? It's fvckin sick!
