Interviews About Albums: SKADE - Gudinnen (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Norwegian Black Metal band SKADE to ask some questions about their album "Gudinnen"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This new CD is the debut from Skade. It is rough and unpolished, like all good Norwegian black metal is.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

«Gudinnen» means «the goddess» in Norwegian, and is a reference to the Norse goddess Skade/Skaði, a recurring character in the album’s lyrics (as well as the source of the band name).

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I have composed all songs, as well as played most instruments, and provided vocals.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I think «Misnøye» might be my personal favorite from the album.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

There is indeed a message in the album, but I have always preferred to leave it up to the listener to find it for themselves.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

The lyrics are all in Norwegian, but here is a small excerpt: Hjelp meg, hjelp meg her holdes jeg nede Jeg prøver å rope, men kveles i stedet Brottsjø meg ektet, men nå skriker fjellet Skriker meg hjem til den bitrende iskalde tåke

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The main musical inspirations for this album are probably Darkthrone and Emperor. I am also very thankful for all my friends who helped me make the album, either through lyrical contributions, instrumental features, or other support.

8. Something to add?

I hope people get something out of the album. I am a big believer in exploring dark emotions through music, and black metal is in my opinion the perfect vessel to do so.
