Interviews: THE ALMAS

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band, THE ALMAS from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name The Almas is Spanish for ‘souls’. Frank, the founder of the band, was in another project and was struggling with his alcohol addiction. He left that band to sober up and re-find his “soul” in music, hence The Almas.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Hard Rock is what suited the band best when it came to all our influences.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Our music careers have been crossing paths for many years. Many of us have either played gigs with each other or have been interviewed by each other at some point or another.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

That's a very loaded question. I think I can speak for everybody in stating that our musical tastes are constantly changing. We all have bands that have heavily influenced us, but we are always finding new favorite bands.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Without going into too much detail, the band musically is influenced by 80’s Hair Metal, Pop Punk, Pop, and Modern Hard Rock. Lately, we have been writing about mental health and the struggles that come with being in a touring band. We try to write universally so even though we are writing on a specific topic, it can be interpreted in many different ways.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Rockford, Illinois at a bar called Whiskey’s Roadhouse. The venue is pretty close to our hometown, just about an hour away. This show is part of our ‘Left For Dead Tour’ with a band called Reign Of Z.

7. Where would you like to act?

Touring in Europe has been a topic of conversation for many years. That would be a dream come true if ever given the opportunity. 8. Whom would you like to feature with? It would be super cool to feature with the likes of Diamante, Lizzy Hale of Halestorm, Miles Kennedy, or Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless.

9. Whom not?

I still don't think Drake and The Almas would blend well together.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Crystal still to this day gets overwhelmed with stage fright. Typically, the fear eases up during her vocal warm-ups; You should feel confident in yourself and remind yourself that your bandmates got your back no matter what.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Crystal is heavily inspired by Taylor Swift and Queen. Frank’s guitar playing is straight out of the ACDC playbook. Josh will always be inspired by Green Day and Andrew loves Angels and Airwaves.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan had caught a guitar pick from the show and wanted every member of the band to lick it. Most of us did.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are amazing! We can’t thank them enough for the love and support that they show us every day.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site has lots of interviews! I have been reading a handful of them this morning.
