Interviews: Worth

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band, Worth from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Cri Jill (vocals), who is the founder of the band, came up with the name. She said she wanted a simple and evocative name, so she went to the dictionary and stumbled upon “worth”. She loved the meaning and sound and thought it was perfect for the project.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It is one of our favourite subgenres of metal, the one that motivates us the most and we love the complexity of the music in juxtaposition with its simplicity.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

This is complicated! Hahaha. Cri and Gloria (guitar) knew each other for a little while before the band. The general idea of the project was not defined at that moment, so they started to play original songs with previous band members. Francesca (bass) joined Worth before the composition of our first album, but we didn’t know her before. Then Stevie (drums) joined in 2019, we did know him before that because we were friends with his former band.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Cri’s favourite band is Be’lakor, Gloria’s is Epica, Francesca’s is Ghost and Stevie’s is Wintersun. But this is very general, we like a wide variety of music.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Music and life. Different situations make us feel in a certain way and sometimes we must express it by playing. Even travelling or listening to other bands that inspire us.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Igualada (Barcelona).

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere that we can! Ideally in northern Europe, we have never been there as a band, and we would love that.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

The bands that we listed as our favourites and some amazing vocalists like Floor Jansen for example. The list is too long.

9. Whom not?

We are open to every collaboration imaginable, as long as we like what we are doing.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that? 

Yes, Cri does at every show. It’s a natural response for some people and you can control it by thinking in your music and feeling the moment. She always says that having her band mates near helps a lot. Also, it helps to have the songs very prepared beforehand.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Be’lakor, Wintersun, Insomnium, Dark Tranquillity, Epica, Kamelot, Nightwish, Amorphis, Omnium Gatherum and many more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Lots of weird things have happened to us (like a random guy spilling a beer on our merch stand and later giving us 5 euros without buying anything). A lot of them were not cool, but generally, we choose to keep the fun and good memories.

13. What do you think of your fans? 

Fans and supporters are the foundation of this project, we wouldn’t be making music without them, so they are one of the pillars of Worth. We love them all and hope they’ll love our second album.

14. What do you think of our site?

Same as with the fans, if we didn’t have the support of sites like yours, devoted to metal and underground bands, we would never thrive. So, thank you so much for the work that you do!

We are very excited to be releasing this second studio album via Wormholedeath Records. We have worked very hard to create these songs and we are really proud of the results. Thank you so much for your support and for this interview!
