Interviews: Grand Elder

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Stoner Metal/Sludge Metal band, Grand Elder from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name is Grand Elder stems from overhearing a plant named "Ground Elder". Ground elder, Aegopodium podagraria, is an invasive perennial weed that quickly forms a mass of leaves that out-competes other plants growing nearby

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Organically came whilst jamming.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The guitarists Jim and Callum go way back, to their college days. Then Jim met Chris (a singer 10 years ago ) and had ideas for a band, Jim quickly brought Callum on board who in turn brought Army (bassist). Barney (drummer ) was sourced on a musician's page online to complete the lineup.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jim, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats Chris, Mulligan & O'Hare Callum, Children Of Bodom Barney, Dodheimsgard Army, Slipknot

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Just the existential conundrums of everyday living along with the doubts that plague our minds before each and every slumber. And it's a right good laugh init

6. Where was your last gig?

Ossy Fest -The Heys Inn, Oswaldtwistle UK Paluka Promotions

7. Where would you like to act?

Download Festival 2024 @AndyCopping 😁

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

To be honest, there are loads of bands but Mastodon has to be the main one

9. Whom not?

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Not so much "stage fright " but more nervous excitement and once the first note is played it all disappears.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are so many but the main one is Mastodon

12. What do you think of your fans?

Yes, they're both pretty good.
